How it works out

Takings are the items you expect to sell times what one usually sells for. Profit is the takings, less what the lot costs with delivery and the postage you pay on each sale.

To break even, every item that sells has to fetch at least the lot’s cost shared over them, plus its postage. If that’s more than items like these usually go for, the lot doesn’t pay.

The most worth paying keeps the lot at 30% of what the items should sell for, delivery included: the same max buy price How Many? suggests for single items. It leaves room for the ones that sell for less, the time it all takes, and the odd return.

What should I put for the usual sale price?

What items like these actually sell for, not what they’re listed at. Your own past sales are the best guide; sold listings on the platform are the next best.

Why expect fewer than all of them to sell?

A lot nearly always has a few pieces that are damaged, out of season or just don’t move. Planning for most rather than all keeps the answer honest.
