eBay profit tracker for resellers

eBay tells you what sold and what it paid out. It doesn’t know what each item cost you. How Many? keeps that cost with the item, so every eBay sale shows its profit, and you can see which stock is worth buying again. It works the same whether you sell on eBay as a private seller clearing a few things or as a business moving job lots every week.

Private or business: what eBay takes

When we checked in October 2026, private sellers in the UK paid no final value fee on most sales. You get the price you listed at, and the buyer pays eBay’s Buyer Protection fee on top. Fees still applied to vehicles, to listings beyond 300 a month, to optional upgrades such as Promoted Listings, and to items posted abroad.

Business sellers paid a final value fee on each sale, a percentage that depends on the category, plus a fee per order of 30p or 40p. eBay changes its fees from time to time, so check its own pages, linked below, before you price.

eBay fees in your profit

How Many? works out each sale’s profit as the sale price, less what the item cost you and the postage you paid. eBay fees aren’t taken off each sale. Record them as an expense under Platform fees & promotion, from your invoice or as you go, and your monthly profit after expenses counts them.

The Buyer Protection fee on a private sale isn’t yours to count: the buyer pays it, so it’s not in your sale price or your costs.

Postage, the way eBay does it

On eBay the buyer usually pays you for postage, and you pay for the label. Put what the buyer paid in the sale price, and what the label cost you as the postage. The difference, up or down, then shows in the profit, so you can see whether your postage prices cover what you spend.

Refunds and returns, in the right month

A partial refund keeps the sale and lowers its profit, for example when an item arrives with a mark you missed. A return ends the sale: the item goes back into stock to sell again, or you write it off if it came back damaged. Any postage you paid for it to come back counts too.

Either way, the refund lands in the month it happened, not the month of the sale, so last month stays as it was and this month shows the refund.

Job lots and bundles

Buy a job lot, enter what you paid with any delivery, and the cost is shared across the items, evenly or weighted, so a good coat carries more than a plain T-shirt. Sell several to one buyer for one price and it’s split back across them by list price, so each item’s profit stays right. The free bundle calculator shows the same split without an account.

eBay alongside Vinted and the rest

Most resellers don’t sell in one place. Each sale records where it sold, whether that’s eBay, Vinted, Depop, Facebook Marketplace or in person, so you can see which platform pays best for which kind of stock.

Bringing in your past eBay sales

Download the template, copy your sales into it from your eBay sales history, and import it under Add, then Import, then Past sales: one row for each item and its sale. Every problem is shown by row before anything is saved, up to 500 rows at a time.

Reports for business sellers

Print a summary for any run of months: revenue, cost of goods, postage, refunds, expenses and profit, per month and per platform. Download every sale, refund, purchase and expense as spreadsheets for your own records.

Fees checked on 19 October 2026. They change, so check the platform’s own page:

Does it connect to my eBay account?

Not today. You record each sale yourself, in a few taps.

Is it for private or business sellers?

Both. Business sellers can record eBay fees as expenses and print a summary of any run of months.

Does the Buyer Protection fee count in my profit?

No. On a private sale the buyer pays it on top of your price, so it isn’t part of your sale price or your costs.

Does it work for eBay sellers in Ireland?

Yes. Amounts can be in € or £. eBay’s fees in Ireland aren’t the same as in the UK, so record what eBay actually charged you.

Can I use it alongside Vinted and Depop?

Yes. Every platform is in one list, and reports show revenue and profit per platform.
