How profit is worked out
Profit is what it sold for, less what you paid for it, the postage you paid and any platform fees. If the buyer paid the postage, leave it empty.
Margin is profit as a share of the sale price: a £20 sale with £8 profit is a 40% margin. Return on cost is profit as a share of what you paid: £8 profit on a £4 buy is 200%. Margin tells you how much of each sale you keep; return on cost tells you how hard your money worked.

Does Vinted charge sellers fees?
When we checked in October 2026, no: Vinted had no selling fees on a normal sale, and the buyer paid the Vinted fee at checkout. Fees change, so check Vinted’s own fee page.
What about eBay fees?
When we checked in October 2026, private sellers in the UK paid no final value fee on most sales, and business sellers did, plus a fee per order. Enter what eBay actually charged you on the sale.
What is the difference between margin and return on cost?
Margin compares profit with the sale price; return on cost compares it with what you paid. A cheap buy sold well can have a modest margin and a huge return on cost.
